Type grade 6063 aluminum alloy (including 6063, 6063A, 6463, 6463A, 6763, 6963, etc.) is the most typical and widely used extrusion alloy in the world today, and its global output is second only to 3004-H19 aluminum alloy can material. In 2015, the world's annual output reaches 10 million tons, while China's output is about 8 million tons, of which more than 90% are building profiles. Aluminum alloy 6063 is a typical representative of Al-Mg-Si alloys. It has excellent extrudability and weldability, and is the preferred material for building door and window profiles.
It is characterized by high plasticity and corrosion resistance under the temperature-speed conditions of pressure working; no tendency to stress corrosion; and its corrosion resistance does not actually decrease during welding.
The main strengthening phases in aluminum alloys are Mg, Si and AlSiFe. If the tensile strength of the 6063 aluminum alloy extruded profile in the annealed state is 98~117.6MPa, it can be increased to 176.4~196MPa after quenching and natural aging, and the relative elongation at this time does not decrease much (from 23%~25 % down to 15%~20%). At 160~170℃, the aluminum alloy can obtain greater strength effect after artificial aging. At this time, the tensile strength can be increased to 269.5~285.2MPa, or even up to 300MPa.
However, during artificial aging, the plastic properties decreased drastically (δ=10%~12%). The interval time between quenching and artificial aging has a significant effect on the degree of strengthening of 6063 aluminum alloy (in artificial aging). The holding time has no significant effect on the mechanical properties of 6063 aluminum alloy semi-finished products.
